Ambassadors of Bodoland
Ambassadors of Bodoland is a 7 day all-inclusive trip of bloggers, vloggers, photographers and social media influencers to the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts of Assam during the Dwijing Festival. Dwijing is an annual river festival held to celebrate the New Year, on the banks of the beautiful Aie (Mother) River.
The Aie starts from the Himalayan Mountains of Bhutan, flows through the Chirang and Bongaigaon districts of Assam and falls into the Brahmaputra river. The Aie river plays a vital role to about 30000 families in the Chirang district for their daily livelihood through crops, fishing, etc. However, during the rainy season, it often creates massive destruction.
With its vibrant cultural attractions and vivid natural beauty,, Bodoland is aiming to become one of the top tourist destinations of India. Manas National Park, a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site, is one of the main tourist attractions of the region. Located in the Himalayan foothills, it is contiguous with the Royal Manas National Park in Bhutan.
The Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) area has great stories to tell the rest of the world. Manas is an example of effective conservation with community participation. The fringe communities have successfully created a model in sustainable livelihood through tourism intervention. There are many examples in Manas that show how tourism and allied livelihood activities supported conservation efforts, thus protecting the greater one-horned rhinoceros.
An erstwhile hunting reserve of the Cooch Behar Royal Family and the Raja of Gauripur, Manas National Park has now acquired the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the only national park whose landscape diversity ranges from Bahabar and Terai formations to wet alluvial grasslands. The importance of Manas National Park can be gauged from the fact that it is blessed with the rare privilege of being a National Park, a Project Tiger Reserve, a Biosphere Reserve, and an Elephant Reserve.
